Elementary School Counseling
My name is Janice Harris and I am the Elementary School Counselor. It is a pleasure to support students’ academic, social, emotional and future development. I am committed to promoting the well-being and success of all students.
I am from Cleveland, Ohio and I came to North Carolina to attend college. I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina Central University. This is my 16th year as a School Counselor and my 5th year with NCCA. I have experience in early, elementary, middle and high school education.
I am married and I love spending time with my husband who is also my friend. When I am not assisting parents and students, I enjoy traveling and shopping. Occasionally I enjoy relaxing and watching my favorite TV shows.
I look forward to an outstanding end of the year!

It is my pleasure to begin my fifth year serving the staff, students and families here at NCCA. My hometown is Cleveland, OH and I have lived in North Carolina since coming to complete my undergraduate and graduate studies. I began my Counseling career with an awareness of the fact that students have needs that are much deeper than the academic standards we want them to master. I hope to have a positive impact on the social, emotional, career and academic success of students. In the past I’ve worked in early, elementary and middle school education. A wonderful day for me is one where I am away on vacation and I’m shopping.

I am from the Peach State---Georgia but I moved to North Carolina to further my education in the areas of Counseling and Social Work. Prior to coming to North Carolina Connections Academy, I worked as School Social Worker, a Social Worker for a local Department of Social Services, and a Case Manager and Housing Specialist for a local Housing Authority. During that time, I assessed and addressed the needs as well as the interactions of children, families, school personnel, and the community. Also, I provided direct services such as individual and group counseling, dropout prevention, crisis intervention and response, conducted home visits, and coordinated school and community services.
